The Imperial Hotel to the Institute of Light:

BUS: Turn left onto Southampton Row and walk down to Bloomsbury Square, bus stop F. Take the 55 bus towards Leyton, Bakers Arms, and alight at King Edward's Road (Stop LP). Walk slightly farther up the road and turn left onto Warburton Road, then right onto Mentmore Terrace, then left onto Helmsley Place.

Journey time: 40-45 minutes.

UNDERGROUND/OVERGROUND: Turn left onto Southampton Row and walk down to Holborn Station, on the corner with High Holborn. Take the Central (red) Line east, four stops to Liverpool Street Station. Come out, through the ticket barriers, onto the main concourse and take the Overground train (usually platforms 1, 2 or 3) towards Cheshunt or Enfield Town. MAKE SURE IT'S A TRAIN THAT STOPS AT LONDON FIELDS. The third stop will be London Fields; at the bottom of the stairs, turn left to exit onto Mentmore Terrace, go right from the station, then take the second right onto Lamb Lane, and immediately left onto Helmsley Place. Enter through the IoL café at the back of the cinema, about 50 metres on the left-hand side of the street.

Journey time: 40 minutes.

IMPORTANT: THERE ARE NO ELECTRONIC TICKET GATES AT LONDON FIELDS, BUT YOU MUST TAP OUT WITH YOUR OYSTERCARD ON ONE OF THE MACHINES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS, OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED A PENALTY FARE.

The Imperial Hotel to King's College London

The simplest way to get to King's is to walk. Turn left onto Southampton Row and walk down past Holborn Station (10 minutes) and then another 10 minutes down Kingsway, round the crescent-shaped Aldwych to the Strand. It is the brutalist building across the street (note: on your way you will pass other King's Buildings, the Virginia Woolf Building and Bush House; you want to continue to the main King's Building located on the Strand). Alternatively, you can board the bus on Southampton Row (Stop B). The 59, 68, 91, 168 or 188 buses all go to Aldwych Royal Courts of Justice (Stop K). Walk round the Australian High Commission to the Strand, and King's is just across the street.

Journey time: 10-15 minutes on the bus; 15-20 minutes on foot. PLEASE NOTE THAT KING'S IS HALFWAY BETWEEN THE IMPERIAL HOTEL AND THE BFI.

The Imperial Hotel to Senate House

Come out of the hotel, cross Southampton Row, walk through Russell Square, and Senate House is the imposing building, set back from the street, at the diagonally opposite corner of the Square to the Hotel.

Journey time: 4 minutes.

The Imperial Hotel to BFI Southbank  

BUS: Turn left onto Southampton Row and walk down to Southampton Row (Stop B). Take the 59, 68, 168 or 188 bus to Waterloo South Bank (Stop N). Take the stairs down into the Southbank complex; the BFI is right there, on the river, next to the bridge.

Journey time: 15 minutes. PLEASE NOTE IF THE WEATHER IS GOOD THIS JOURNEY IS A PLEASANT 25-30 MINUTE WALK.
